      Piranha Boat Propellers are 15% stronger than Die-cast Aluminium. Made from a carbon/chopped glass fibre material named “VERTON” which is a composite material originally developed for aircraft props to withstand propeller strike.

    Composite blades made from "VERTON" are able to flex on impact providing a greater degree of protection to your expensive lower unit.

    The versatility and simplicity of changing blades makes standard die-cast aluminium propellers a thing of the past. You now repair a damaged propeller quickly and easily restoring  peak performance and perfect balance in minutes with no special tools.

    Replaceable Blades


      All Piranha Propellers feature replaceable blades for superior "repairability" but there are some design differences between the different "Styles" of propellers we sell.

    Boat props are available from Piranha for most Outboard motors and many I/O sterndrives and can replace most aluminum and stainless steel boat propellers. Here's an overview of how the pieces all fit together.

    The Propeller Hub

      The heart of the Piranha Propeller is the center Hub. This is the part of the prop that holds the blades. It's a solid Aluminum Core, over-moulded with Verton for durability and corrosion protection.

    These hubs are so tough, they come with a lifetime warranty. If you ever damage one you can return it for replacement.

    The center hub assemblies we make are either 2 piece or 3 piece designs. 3-piece hub assemblies consist of a front cap, center hub, and a rear cap. The 2-piece hubs are a newer design featuring the front cap integrated into the propeller center hubs, they also use a rear cap just like the 3-piece hubs.

      The blades themselves slide into the slots in the hub. The slots and blades have a 1 degree taper built in to prevent you from accidentally inserting the blades backward: they only go in one way. This also means they only come out one way: the blades slide out toward the back of the boat.

    Once the blades are fully seated into their sockets the rear cap can be installed onto the propeller. The Prop is now ready to be installed on your motor. Piranha Propellers Hub

    The blades can be repaired in as little as 5-minutes, Please note ... unlike aluminum or stainless props they do not require a specially trained technician.

    The blades provide the impact protection for your gearcase in two ways. In light impacts the blades will elastically absorb the shock leaving you non-the-wiser.

    In a hard strike the blades are designed to break, thereby preventing the transmission of the impact to the drive gears and driveshaft in your expensive lower-unit.

    If this does occur, a 5-minute blade change will have you back on your way!

    4 Blade Piranha Propeller Most 4-Blade Piranha Props Have An Additional Feature To Make Life Easier...
    Built In Thrust Washers!

      Most of the propeller hubs in our
    4-blade line have the added benefit of a built in thrust washer. This means you have one less part to keep track of when making repairs or blade swaps. There are a few 4-Blade hubs that still require use of your stock thrust washer, but these are uncommon.

    You'll see a brass insert when you look at the gearcase side of your four blade hub on all units with the built in thrust washer.

    On these propellers you need to make sure you remove your old thrust washer before sliding your new prop on the shaft, because you won't need it!

      Piranha propellers are available in three blade style to fit most outboard motors and sterndrives from 280hp down to 9.9hp ... some brands even as low as 6hp.

    Three and four blade versions are available to fit outboard motors and sterndrives from 280hp down to 70hp ... including the Volvo Penta Duo Prop System.
