How Are Boat Propellers
Identified?Propeller
sizes are identified with two numbers ... usually expressed in
inches. The first number is the diameter of the boat
propeller and the second number is the pitch.
Outboard Propellers.M ost of
today's outboard propellers are thru-hub exhaust are very
similar in design, including Evinrude, Honda, Johnson,
Mercury, Mercruiser, Mariner, Cobra SX, Cobra 800, Suzuki,
Volvo Penta, Volvo S.X., Yamaha and Tohatsu ... in fact just
about any brand of modern outboard propeller ... and most
sterndrives.
In the case of a Piranha or Michigan Wheel outboard propeller ... they are easily
identified by the barrel around the hub to which the blades are
attached.
